WAIKĪKĪ, HAWAIʻI – Waikīkī Beach Marriott Resort & Spa today announced the launch of Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī, a new lūʻau celebrating Waikīkī’s rich history and culture through original music and dance performances every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī was developed by Tihati Productions and is the first lūʻau at Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Performances feature hula kahiko – traditional hula, hula ‘auana – modern hula, aparima – a fast-paced, hip-shaking dance from Tuamotu, and Siva Afi – the dance of the flaming knives by a world champion fireknife dancer and one of the youngest keiki fireknife dancers in the islands.

“Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī gives kama‘āina and visitors a chance to enjoy an exciting evening under the stars, a journey through time and a celebration of the culture and history of Waikīkī,” said Leilani Kūpahu-Marino Kaho‘āno, Cultural Advisor and Ambassador, Waikīkī Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. “The new original mele and hula composed to honor Queen Lili‘uokalani is a fitting tribute to a beloved monarch who spent much of her time at her Waikīkī estate, Hamohamo – the present-day location of the resort – where she would come to retreat, relax, and reflect.”
Attendees will enjoy their choice of lūʻau favorites like lomi lomi salmon, kalua pork, huli huli chicken, and poi, with additional options like delicious salads and a 12-hour slow-roasted prime rib – made from fresh, local ingredients. Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī’s menu also offers artisanal cocktails and an array of desserts, including pineapple upside-down cake with Koloa Rum.
Hawai‘i residents can receive a 20% kama‘āina discount by entering the code “kama” at checkout. Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī guests can also plan to hit the beach or shop in Waikīkī with complimentary 6-hour self-parking included with validation.
A portion of the proceeds from Pāʻina Lūʻau Waikīkī will be donated to The Friends of ‘Iolani Palace, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving, restoring and protecting ‘Iolani Palace, the royal residence of Hawai‘i’s last reigning monarchs.
“Waikīkī was so special to our Ali‘i. It’s exciting to see a show that shares with visitors the unique history of that very special place. We are honored that the Waikīkī Beach Marriott Resort & Spa has chosen to donate proceeds from this lūʻau to The Friends and partner with us as we protect this Hawaiian treasure,” said Paula Akana, Executive Director at The Friends of ‘Iolani Palace.
